The Property
A traditional Provencal mansion near Aix-en-Provence
This 150 years old Bastide, built by the Fabre family, is the home of a Franco- American family. We live here all year round with our two doxies and two cats.
We take great pride in the upkeep of our vast garden and are constantly restoring the beauty of this old estate.
An artistic atmosphere
There is a unique view of the famous Sainte Victoire mountain from Les Mimosas especially at sunrise and sunset.
Cezanne painted the Sainte Victoire from several different angles and at different hours of the day because of its amazingly beautiful facets.
If you are a painter or like to sketch, the front steps of the Bastide is the perfect place to set up an easel and give a try at the Sainte Victoire
Joachim Gasquet a French poet and close friend to Cezanne recalls Cezanne as saying “Art is a harmony parallel to nature”.
Your hostess being a potter and sculptor invites you to visit her workshop and offers initiation to pottery classes upon request.
At the heart of Provence
The grounds of the Mimosas include a Provencal style vegetable garden and approximately 50 fruit trees.
The vegetable garden spreads out over 2,000 square feet and produces tomatoes, green beans, squashes, salads, radishes, carrots, potatoes, herbs etc.
Every spring we take great care in planting our seedlings in the greenhouse until the weather permits them to be planted outside.
Our guests are welcome to sample our produce in season. On the backside of the Bastide wildlife is abundant.
One can catch a glimpse of an occasional pheasant, a deer, wild rabbits or even spot a wild boar.
